Love in an Arranged Marriage

By Master Bodou · Traditional African spiritual healer · 27 years of practice

Two families agreed. A wedding was held. And now you share a home, a name, perhaps children — with someone your heart has not yet learned to love. It is a loneliness few speak of, because from the outside, everything looks in order.

I am asked about this more often than people might imagine. A wife who respects her husband but feels nothing warmer, and longs to. A husband whose wife remains polite and closed to him after years. Two good people, joined with the best of intentions, waiting for a feeling that never quite arrived. There is no scandal here, no betrayal — only the ache of living beside someone and wishing the bond would come alive.

Love that is meant to grow, and doesn't

In many of our cultures, love is not the thing you begin with — it is the thing you are meant to build. And usually it does grow, slowly, through shared life. But sometimes it stalls. One heart stays shut; a coldness sets in early and hardens; or the interference of relatives sours what might have blossomed. The couple does everything expected of them, and still the warmth will not take root.

An arranged marriage is not a marriage without love. It is a marriage where the love is asked to arrive after the vows — and sometimes it needs help to find its way in.

When effort alone isn't enough

People in this situation try what they can — kindness, patience, time. And time helps many. But when years pass and the heart still will not open, patience begins to feel like resignation. What is missing is not effort; it is the bond itself, the invisible thread that draws two people toward each other. That thread is what the traditional work seeks to strengthen.

What the work can do — honestly

In the tradition passed down in my family, this work is about drawing genuine affection and devotion between husband and wife — warming what is cold, softening what is closed, and clearing any ill will that has kept the two of you apart. It does not manufacture a love that could never exist; it opens the way for one that has simply not been able to grow.

And I will tell you plainly, as I tell everyone: I cannot force a heart, and I will say so honestly if I look at your case and see nothing to build on. Where there is something real to work with, though, much can change. Distance is no obstacle — the work reaches you wherever you live, in complete discretion.

Longing for warmth in your marriage?

Tell me about your situation, in confidence. I will tell you honestly whether the affection between you can be helped to grow.

Those who lead

From the Kings of centuries past to the Presidents of today, every person of great renown, power or wealth has worked with a spiritual advisor — drawing on spiritual resources to gain vision and follow the right path, whatever they were seeking. This is why the most powerful figures in the world still keep a Guide by their side.
