Why You Keep Attracting the Wrong Partners
Different faces, different names, the same ending. If you keep dating people who cannot love you the way you need, the unavailable, the ones who pull away, the ones who hurt you, the pattern is rarely bad luck. It is speaking to you.
In 27 years, so many people have sat before me and said the same thing in almost the same words: "Why does it always end this way? Why is it always the wrong one?" They are good people, often kind and giving. And yet they meet the same wound again and again, wearing a new face each time. I want to speak to you honestly about why that happens, and what can be done.
The pattern is not random
When something repeats in your love life with this much precision, it is no longer coincidence. Somewhere in you there is a door that keeps opening to the same kind of person, and closing to the ones who could truly love you. You are not choosing badly on purpose. You are being drawn, and what draws you is older than any of these relationships.
We do not attract what we want. We attract what feels familiar. And for many people, what feels familiar is the wound they have not yet healed.
The wound underneath
Very often the pattern begins long before your first relationship. A parent who was there but never truly present. Love that had to be earned, never simply given. A childhood where affection came with conditions, or came and went without warning. That early experience teaches the heart what love is supposed to feel like, and if love once felt like longing, like reaching for someone just out of reach, then as an adult you may mistake that ache for love itself. The steady, available person feels flat. The unavailable one feels like home. It is not weakness. It is a heart trying to finish an old story it never got to finish.
The energy you carry into the room
Beyond the emotional lies the spiritual, and this is the part I know best. We each carry an energy that others feel before a single word is spoken. When someone has been hurt many times, or carries an old heaviness, sometimes their own, sometimes inherited from their family line, that energy can act like a signal. It quietly turns away those who would treat them well, and calls forward those who confirm the old fear: I am not truly wanted, love always costs me. This is what I so often find when I look into a person's situation, not a curse in the frightening sense, but a heaviness sitting over the heart, shaping who comes and who stays.
What can be cleared, and what cannot
The traditional work I inherited acts on that heaviness, the old grief, the imprint of past betrayals, the energy that keeps calling the wrong people toward you. When that is lifted, people often tell me the same thing: the ones who used to fascinate them no longer hold the same pull, and someone steadier begins to feel possible. What the work cannot do is choose for you, or spare you the honest inner looking that real change asks. I will always tell you truthfully which part is spiritual and which part is yours to walk.
How the cycle actually breaks
- Name the pattern out loud. Write down what your last three partners had in common. The truth is usually in what repeats, not in the details.
- Notice what "boring" really means. When a kind, available person feels dull, pause. That flatness is often safety, and safety can feel unfamiliar at first.
- Stop rescuing. If you are always the one giving, fixing, waiting, you are meeting your own wound, not a partner.
- Clear what you carry. Some of this is inner work; some of it is the old energy that keeps the door open to the wrong ones. Both can be addressed.
You are not doomed to repeat this. I have watched people who swore they were "unlucky in love" meet someone gentle and steady once the old weight was lifted and the pattern was finally seen. If you want to understand what is truly at work in your case, that is the work I do.
